Recreational swimming is a great way to improve a swimmer's strength, self-confidence and coordination. Our talented coaches are dedicated to helping athletes grow through recreational swimming, and are committed to helping each individual reach their full potential.
Classes are offered in multi-week sessions at the Coquitlam City Centre Aquatic Complex and the Surrey Sport & Leisure Complex. Athletes of all genders are welcome. Athletes learn basic routine skills and positions in artistic swimming as a foundation for understanding the sport, and our coaches work with swimmers to develop skill progressions according to Canada Artistic Swimming.
Beginner Recreational is a one-hour weekly class for ages 5 to 7, introducing young swimmers to the sport through fun activities, music and creativity. Intermediate Recreational runs an hour and a half twice a week for ages 8 to 11, building swimming skills, flexibility and the fundamentals of artistic swimming — sculls, figures, body positions and routines.
Athletes in Recreational are not expected to attend competitions. Swimmers do take part in training and a showcase each session, and beginners who want more experience are encouraged to register for more than one class per week, where offered.
