The bridge year

Introduction to Competition

The bridge year — a first taste of competing.

Who it's for
Swimmers ready to grow their skills and perform
When it runs
Full-year program, September to mid-May. Summer-only option, May to August
Training hours
10–12 hours per week

Introduction to Competition is the step between recreational sessions and the full competitive stream. Athletes move to a year-round training rhythm, build the strength and flexibility the sport asks for, and learn to hold a figure under the pressure of an audience.

Training load depends on the age of the athletes and is split across three to five sessions each week. Swimmers perform at one or two invitational competitions in BC, so the season has real milestones without the travel commitment of the higher streams.

Fees for the 2026–2027 season are confirmed at registration. Financial assistance is available — registrar@bcaquasonics.com if cost is a barrier, and we will talk it through.
