Espoir National Championships

Our 13-15 National Stream Team competed at the Espoir National Championships in Winnipeg, May 30 to June 5, placing 19th out of 27 teams competing from across Canada.

Our three 11Ilona 6th-12 aged athletes (Ilona, Annie and Preet) definitely had the craziest week, competing in Team, 13-15 Figures, 11-12 Figures, and 11-12 Testing! Out of 67 competitors in their age group, these girls were amazing:

  • lona – 6th in 200m IM, 8th in Front Flutter
  • Annie – 10th in both land routine and propeller, 12th in 200m IM
  • Preet – 10th in Water Split, 12th in Synchro Specific Swim, 13th in Propeller, and 14th in the 200m IM

For the full results, go to Synchro Canada.

Provincial Stream Teams Start Sept 7th

Like last year, September will be team placement month for athletes wishing to swim on Provincial Stream competitive teams.

Starting on Wed, Sept 7, all athletes wishing to swim in Provincial Stream competitive synchro will begin their training at Surrey Sport and Leisure Centre (note that CCAC in Coquitlam is closed for the first few weeks of Sept for maintenance). Athletes will train in age groups: 12 & Under and 13 & Over. Training days for September 7 to 18 are:

12 & Under:    Mon, Wed, Fri (4:30 -7)
13 & Over:     Mon, Wed, Fri (4-7), Sat (9-12)

Please note exact time may fluctuate but days will remain the same

By Sept 16, the coaching staff will determine team configuration. Where possible, teams will be formed based on the residency of the athlete (CCAC/Coquitlam or SSLC/Surrey areas). Teams may be divided by age, skill level or experience. Some athletes may move up or down an age group.

Starting September 19, Coquitlam based teams will swim at CCAC, Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. Please note that older teams usually train in both CCAC and SSLC for the full year.

Fees for September Synchro include the annual CASSA insurance fee and all training until Sept 30. These fees will be billed on your BCAQ Account and are due Sept. 6th. (12&Under: $425 | 13&Over: $525)

The regular season then runs from Oct 1, 2016 to last day of Jean Peters Provincial Championships (or the Spring Watershow – whichever is later).

National Stream Trials Starts Aug 28

Our National Stream Teams are selected through a Trial process. The 2016-17 Trials begin Aug 28 at SSLC. Invitations to NS Trials will be sent out by the Head Coach in June. The Trials begin with full days of training until Sept 1 for all athletes:

Sun 8:30-2:30    Mon 1-7    Tues 9-3    Wed 1-7    Thur 9-3

After Labour Day, September training for athletes in NS Trials changes to:
13-15: M/W 4-8  Fri 4-7  Sat 9:30-2:30  Sun 10:30-2:30
Junior: M/W 4-8  Fri 4-8  Sat 9-3  Sun 8:30-2:30

Please note exact time may fluctuate but days will remain the same

By Sept. 14, team selection will be announced and formal agreements sent to families. Families will have until Sept. 21 to accept the team offer and return the agreement.

Fees for NS Trials include the annual CASSA insurance fee and all training until Sept 30. Fees will be billed on your account with 50% due Aug 15th and the balance due Sept 6th. (13-15: $875 | Junior: $1,075)

Summer Programs

For National Stream athletes or those wishing to try-out for National Stream next season, Conditioning and Choreography Training is available Mondays and Wednesdays, June 13-July 20 (no training June 27 or 29), 4-7pm, SSLC – $35 per session. Register for as many or as few dates as you wish. Register through the Synchro Store.

In June and July many of our competitive athletes are training at SSLC in preparation for the BC Summer Games. This is not a BC Aquasonics program but the teams train in our pool time and many of the athletes are BCAQ members.

We wish you all the best of luck at the BC Summer Games, June 21-24! Cheer them on at Walnut Grove Community Centre pool, the aquatics competition pool for the BC Summer Games.
