National Qualifiers

Our athletes came home with ribbons from the National Qualifier!! BC Aquasonics Junior Team placed 5th in the Junior Team Routine event and 6th with their championship score – the best finish at the National Qualifier for a BC Junior team since the Qualifier event was introduced in 2013.

Nancy Zhang and Cameron Blades – our Junior Duet – also qualified for the Canadian Open at this event, placing 16th in the country, earning one of the Top 20 spots required to move onto Nationals.

Our 13-15s also had a great week, placing 15th in routine and 18th with their championship score out of 28 teams from across the country.

Be sure to check out the press release on our website and the links to the media coverage on our Facebook page. Full results are posted at Synchro Canada: http://www.qualifier2016.ca/schedule-results/

Mabel Moran Championships

Good luck to our Provincial Stream and Recreational Teams at the Mabel Moran Championships at Watermania this month! We can’t wait to see you all show how hard you have worked to create some very spectacular routines. The National Stream teams will also be joining the meet on Saturday for a showcase event of all the qualifying routines.

Parents: To volunteer at this meet, sign-up online here. For those of you who are new to meet volunteering, the prime jobs are those on deck during the events your child is swimming where you get the best view of their swim. During figures, these are the figure scorer positions and during routines look for timer and runner positions. All are simple! Any time spent volunteering counts towards your Club Family Commitment Points.

Synchro BC Raffle

You should have all received your Synchro BC Raffle Tickets – if not, please contact your Team Parent or Tammy Lyon at vp@bcaquasonics.com. Every family will receive 1 book of tickets (1/2 a book for each Star 3-4 family) to sell – but you get to keep the money for any tickets sold. There are 10 tickets in each book and each ticket sells for $5 each. Half the cost of the tickets will be billed on your account as a fundraiser for Synchro BC. The balance of funds you can keep for yourself as a fundraiser for you. Or you can put your own name on all the tickets and give yourself a chance of winning the cash prizes.

The draw will be held April 9th at 1pm at the Mable Moran Meet. Good luck!

Year End Watershow & AGM: May 28

Mark your calendars for the Year End Watershow (11:30am) and our Annual General Meeting (9:30am) on May 28 at Surrey Sport and Leisure. This meeting is where we will hold the elections for the 2016-2017 Executive. We will also have a presentation by Coach Tanya Magee for rec parents who want to know more about moving to competitive synchro.

2 FCP points are given to each family attending the meeting.

Watershow Entry Fee

There was some confusion about the entry fee for the March Watershow. This year, funds raised through the entry fee help to pay for our pool costs, which will be nearly $60,000 this year. In the past funds raised at the Watershow were used to establish a Scholarship Fund.

Our next watershow is on May 28th and the entry fee will once again be $5 per adult, including parents. You are always welcome to attend practices to watch for free.

Thank you for your support!
